Free Memory

By default, all apps on this page are checked, and pressing the Stop Active Apps button will terminate all checked apps, allowing you to reclaim memory. If you want to spare a couple of apps from termination, just uncheck them first.

The memory displayed in System Manager is your device’s random-access memory (RAM), or “short-term memory”. This kind of memory is only consumed by apps which are currently running, not by apps which are installed but stopped. Running low on RAM might cause your device to feel sluggish, but will not prevent you from installing additional apps.

“Long-term memory”, which is consumed by all apps—running or not—is completely separate and not shown here. Running out of long-term memory can be easily fixed by buying a bigger SD card.
